The Seiko Prospex Sky SSG011P1 features 22-millimetre lug width. This is the standard Seiko specification for 45mm case diameters in the Prospex line. To verify strap compatibility, measure the internal distance between the case lugs: it must be precisely 22mm.

For the SSG011P1, we recommend Italian leather tanned through vegetable methods—vegetable-tanned calf or alligator—which dialogues visually with the watch's satin-brushed steel case. Alligator offers regular texture and measured ageing; calf develops rich patina over time. Alternatively, synthetic NATO straps guarantee maximum moisture resistance. For rubber options, vulcanised models maintain proper proportions for aviation watches.

Remove the watch from your wrist and position it on a soft surface (microfibre cloth). Locate the spring bars connecting the strap to the lugs. Use a spring bar removal tool to gently compress each bar and slide it free of the lug. Repeat for both sides. Insert the new strap by aligning its holes with the lugs, then slide the spring bar until you hear or feel a click indicating proper seating.
