The Rolex Yacht-Master 116622-0003 is fitted with a 20-millimetre lug width. This is the distance between the two lugs of the case at the point where the spring bar attachment occurs. The Rolex Yacht-Master 116622-0003 is fitted with spring bars at each lug. To remove the bracelet: place the watch on a soft pad, use a spring bar removal tool to gently press downward on the bar stem, disengaging the end from the lug. Repeat on the other side. Insert the ends of the new strap into the now-vacant slots, reposition the springs until they click into place. Do not force: the motion should be smooth and without play. If in doubt, entrust the work to an authorised Rolex service centre.

All straps with a 20-millimetre lug width are physically compatible. In practice, alligator, calf leather, shell cordovan, NATO canvas and FKM rubber—provided they are certified 20mm—attach correctly. Calf leather is more vulnerable—3–5 years. Shell cordovan, thanks to the density of equine fibre, reaches 8–10 years. NATO canvas endures indefinitely: it is woven cotton, not perishable. FKM rubber retains elasticity for 5–8 years if exposed to UV (which accelerates oxidation). Correct maintenance—drying after humidity, storage away from direct light, periodic hydration with cocoa butter or argan oil—extends these periods significantly.
