This measurement is the design standard for the Datejust 36 and is critical when selecting a replacement strap: any strap with an opening smaller or larger than 20 millimetres will not fit correctly into the case lugs. The measurement should be verified with a digital calliper positioned perpendicularly to the lugs at the attachment point.

Alligator in neutral tones (black, dark brown, grey) represents the most coherent choice: the natural grain of crocodile leather complements the iridescence of mother-of-pearl without competing visually.
