The lug width (ansa measure) is 20 millimetres. This is the distance between the internal attachment pins of the case and determines compatibility with any aftermarket strap. Measurement recommended with digital caliper, without forcing, between the inner shoulders of the lugs.

For the 126283RBR-0016 two-tone (yellow gold and stainless steel), we recommend aged calf leather with natural texture or matte alligator. Alligator maintains formal elegance without competing with the case; aged calf develops patina that enhances the watch's material balance. Avoid textile or rubber straps, which would break stylistic coherence.

Strap replacement requires a specific tool (spring bar tool) to extract the attachment pins from the lugs. Position the watch on a soft pad, insert the flat tip of the tool into the spring hole, and apply gentle downward pressure to release the pin. Extract carefully, do not force. Then insert the new strap in reverse and reposition the pin until it clicks. A simple operation repeated on both sides.

All straps with 20mm lug width are mechanically compatible. However, aesthetic compatibility depends on case-to-strap proportion: on 36mm, we recommend maximum thickness of 4–4.5mm and strap width between 19.5–20.5mm for optimal fit. Calf, alligator, shell cordovan and natural rubber are the recommended choices for this classic measure.

Longevity of a leather strap depends on usage, climate and leather quality. A vegetable-tanned calf strap lasts an average of 3–5 years with moderate daily wear; alligator resists up to 7–8 years due to superior fibre density. Regular care (gentle drying after moisture exposure) and rotation with other straps significantly extends useful life. Periodic replacement is also an opportunity to refresh the watch's aesthetics.
