The lug width is 24mm. This measurement is determined by the geometry of the 46mm case and the straight lugs integrated into the construction. To verify the compatibility of an aftermarket strap, measure with a calliper the distance between the two lugs: it must be exactly 24mm without tolerances, essential to ensure stability during prolonged diving operations.

It depends on the intended use. For daily tactical wear with occasional diving, we recommend natural crocodile with vegetable tanning: superior flexibility and patina that develops over time. For frequent diving, a NATO in Cordura or an FKM rubber strap offers guaranteed salt-water resistance and zero maintenance. Italian shell cordovan represents the excellent compromise: extraordinary durability and natural water-proofing.

The Aquis uses standard straight lugs. Obtain a spring bar removal tool or consult a watchmaker. Insert the bifurcated tip of the tool into the lug hole, release the mechanism and slide off the old strap. Install the new strap by aligning the lugs to the case notches, ensuring it is symmetrical. If you are uncertain about the procedure, always consult a professional to avoid damaging the case.

Any strap with a 24mm lug width is compatible. However, verify that the strap is constructed for straight lugs (not curved) and that the width is actually 24mm and not approximate. Avoid undersized straps (23mm) which would cause loosening, and oversized ones (25mm) which would create excessive compression. The best suppliers always specify the lug width in millimetres.

A quality leather strap (natural crocodile or shell cordovan) lasts 3-5 years with daily use and proper maintenance: avoid prolonged salt water exposure, dry after use and apply conditioner every 3-4 months. A Cordura NATO lasts 5-7 years due to the fabric's resistance. An FKM rubber strap lasts 4-6 years before thinning. Actual lifespan depends on intensity of use and diving practices.
