Strap for Tetra Norma

The Nomos Glashütte Tetra 429 features an 18mm lug width, an exceptionally rare measurement in contemporary watchmaking. This specification reflects the classical proportioning of the 29.5mm square case. To verify the measurement, use a digital calliper positioned between the spring bar pins at the case lugs.

A vegetable-tanned alligator in dark brown tones or vegetable-tanned calf leather in black represent the most refined choices. For a functional approach, a NATO strap in heavyweight canvas or hemp guarantees absolute robustness. A matte black rubber strap adds sporting dimension whilst maintaining the watch's minimalist spirit.

Use a spring bar tool (extractor) to gently remove the elastic pins from the case lugs. Position the flat tip beneath the spring until it dislodges from its seat, then extract the pin. Repeat on the opposite side. Insert the new strap by aligning the pins into the lugs and press until the locking click engages.

Any strap featuring an 18mm lug width is compatible. We recommend verifying construction quality and declared materials: authentic alligator, vegetable-tanned calf, heavyweight canvas, and vulcanised rubber. Avoid low-quality synthetic straps that would compromise the watch's minimalist aesthetic.

Longevity depends on usage intensity and leather quality. A high-quality vegetable-tanned alligator or chrome-tanned calf ensures 3-5 years of daily wear before replacement is necessary. The patina developing over time adds character. Store the strap in dry environments and protect it from excessive humidity and direct heat to maximise lifespan.
