The lug width of the PM901 is 20mm. This measurement represents the distance between the two suspension pins located at the case lugs. It is essential to respect this specification to ensure perfect strap fit without lateral play or excessive tension. An undersized strap would create gaps; an oversized strap would not fit into the pins at all.

The ideal strap depends on usage and personal preference. For formal elegance, we recommend alligator crocodile or shell cordovan with vegetable tanning, both developing natural patina over time. For daily versatility, Italian grained calf leather at 1.5mm thickness ensures comfort and resistance. For sports and informal occasions, a cotton-nylon NATO allows quick changes and practicality. FKM rubber remains the modern solution for those alternating between humid or athletic environments.

Strap replacement requires a precision spring bar tool. Position the watch on a stable surface and insert the flat tip of the spring bar tool into the small lateral hole located near one suspension pin, pushing gently inward to create leverage. The pin will slide out of the lug. Repeat for the second side. Insert the new strap by aligning the holes with the pin axes first, then reinserting the pins with uniform pressure until you hear a click. Verify that the strap is centred relative to the case.

Absolutely. Any strap with 20mm lug width is mechanically compatible. However, we recommend selecting straps with comparable build quality to the watch's value: minimum 1.4mm thickness, premium leather or certified technical synthetic materials, precise finishing in cuts and stitching. An economical, lower-quality strap does not compromise mechanics but reduces overall tactile experience.

A premium leather strap, subject to moderate-to-intensive daily use, typically lasts 18 to 36 months. Cordovan resists longer due to structural density; alligator requires more careful maintenance to preserve surface crystals. Grained calf offers balance: typically 24-30 months of life before replacement is necessary. Determining factors include climate (humidity accelerates ageing), frequency of use, exposure to sweat, water, and detergents. Periodic maintenance—gentle cleaning and annual conditioning with natural wax—significantly extends longevity.
