The lug width is 21.00 mm. This is a specific dimension for this model, determined by the geometry of the 42mm case. To measure accurately, use a digital calliper positioned perpendicularly between the inner lugs without tilting the tool.

Alligator represents the most formally coherent choice: its natural texture dialogues seamlessly with the satin-finished rose gold. For an evolving patina over time, vegetable-tanned calf leather is recommended in brown or burgundy shades. Twill NATO in dense weaves offers sportive versatility, whilst FKM rubber is ideal for summer contexts.

The Senator uses an original Glashütte deployante (thin-click clasp). To remove the strap, gently prise the internal locking pin at the clasp using an appropriate tool, then slide the strap outward. Insert the new strap (with straight lug and preformed compatible channel) until the click engages. Do not use plier-type tools without rubber protection, as they may scratch the rose gold.

Compatible aftermarket straps must feature 21mm lug width and straight (not curved) terminals. They are available in leather (alligator, calf, shell cordovan), NATO fabric of at least 1.8mm thickness, and vulcanised FKM rubber. Ensure the internal channel is preformed to accommodate the original deployante without forcing.

An alligator or vegetable-tanned calf strap, worn regularly (not during aquatic sports), maintains structural integrity for 3–5 years. Durability depends on exposure to moisture, heat, and wrist rotation. An original Glashütte deployante does not deteriorate the strap, unlike aggressive clasps. Rotating two or three straps seasonally extends the life of each beyond five years.
