The lug width of the SeaQ 1-36-13-03-90-34 is 21 millimetres, measured between the internal attachments of the case. This dimension is fixed because the lugs are asymmetrically milled into the two-tone metal body, ensuring structural stability during strap changes and maintaining geometric alignment between rose gold and stainless steel.

To enhance the two-tone case (rose gold and stainless steel), we recommend an alligator strap in tobacco brown, which creates chromatic continuity whilst attenuating the geometric contrast. Alternatively, vegetable-tanned calf in cognac allows a patina of use that dialogues with the natural ageing of rose gold. For underwater use, natural vulcanised rubber remains the uncompromising technical solution.

Strap change requires a dedicated spring bar tool, namely an instrument with a thin, curved tip. Position the tip in the lug slot (approximately 2.5mm depth on the 1-36-13-03-90-34), press downward to compress the internal spring of the bar, and slide the bar outward from the case shoulder. Reverse the process to insert the new strap, ensuring the bar clicks firmly at both ends of the lug.

Any strap with a 21-millimetre lug width is mechanically compatible. However, verify the bar width (standard 1.6mm) and the depth of the internal slot (minimum 2.2mm). Suitable materials include alligator, full-grain calf, shell cordovan, polyamide NATO, and vulcanised rubber. Avoid synthetics that are excessively rigid, as they compromise bar installation.

A quality leather strap (alligator, calf, cordovan) with daily use not exposed to continuous water stress lasts approximately 3–5 years before replacement becomes necessary. Sporadic saltwater exposure does not degrade vegetable-tanned or tannin-treated materials. Natural vulcanised rubber has equivalent longevity but degrades more quickly in intense UV environments. A rubber or NATO strap subjected to frequent immersion requires annual inspection and replacement every 4–6 years based on spring bar wear.
