If you prefer something more robust with evolving patina, vegetable-tanned calf leather in chestnut ages beautifully. Remove the existing strap using a spring bar tool to compress the internal spring of the lug. Once extended, slide the strap out of the lug passage. Align the new strap holes with the lugs, reinsert the spring bar into the hole, ensuring it is fully seated. Never force: the spring bar must not protrude from the sides.
