Strap for DA 47

The lug width (distance between the two internal lugs) of the Damasko DA47 is precisely 20 mm. This measurement is taken from the inside of the case, between the two pins that anchor the strap. It is a proportionate standard for medium to large wrists, intermediate between 18 mm (smaller wrists) and 22 mm (athletic instruments).

The ideal strap for the DA47 is crafted in calf or shell cordovan leather with vegetable tanning, in dark brown or aged burgundy tones. These materials develop visible patina over time, reflecting the philosophy of the brushed case that rejects static perfection. Alternatively, a NATO strap in ballistic nylon (grey or military black) maintains the original operative aesthetic.

Strap replacement requires a simple tool: a stainless steel spring bar tool. Insert the tool perpendicularly into the small access hole of the spring beneath the lug, compressing the internal spring that releases the pin. The pin slides horizontally out of the case. Repeat this operation on the opposite lug. The new 20 mm strap is inserted by applying leverage in reverse until it clicks into position, creating minimal play.

Verify that the overall width of the finished strap (including thickness) is approximately 20 mm to ensure precise fit on the lugs without excessive play.
