The Velcro® with a reinforced technical fabric base withstands mud, rain, sun, constant rubbing. It adjusts in a second. It washes under running water. But doesn’t velcro wear out? How long does it hold up before it starts looking awful?
It’s original Velcro® brand, not the generic Chinese stuff. The base is reinforced technical fabric, not some soft material that crumbles. It withstands mud, rain, sun, continuous rubbing — it was born for serious outdoor use. You can wash it under running water when needed. It won’t last 30 years like a Horween leather, but it isn’t a consumable either. It depends on how much you use it and how you treat it. Those who buy it know: it’s a conscious choice, not a compromise.
The green stitching — is it really invisible or is that just marketing for stitches you haven’t actually seen?
They aren’t invisible. They’re tone-on-tone, so they blend into the military green. From a distance the strap is clean, uniform. Up close you see them, and you understand they’re precise and controlled. It isn’t a trick to badly hide poor workmanship — it’s the opposite. It’s when you decide that the detail doesn’t need to stand out in order to matter. Those who look know where to look.
Does it work on all watches with 20mm lugs, or is there something to watch out for?
It has a 20mm width at the lugs. Velcro adapts well to steel, bronze, titanium — what’s written is what works. If you have a watch with serious outdoor DNA and 20mm lugs, you’re good to go. If you have doubts about a specific model, better to ask directly.
120mm and 80mm — what does that mean? Is it long enough for my wrist or do I need to look for a bigger one?
Those are the two lengths of the velcro: one 120mm, one 80mm, adjustable through the Velcro® overlap. It means you have room to play with. But if you want to know whether it’ll fit you, that’s something I can’t decide for you — it depends on your wrist. At least with velcro you don’t have the drama of pre-punched holes: you adjust it to the millimetre and that’s it.
At what point does the military green fade? Or does it stay stable even under the sun?
It withstands the sun — it’s written that it withstands rain, mud, sun, continuous rubbing. Velcro® with a reinforced technical fabric base isn’t the kind of thing that dies at the first ray. But military green is a colour, and all colours have a life of their own under UV. Don’t expect it to remain identical after 10 years of intense use. The weave, however, remains.
