Italian Calfskin Rally Strap in Cognac
SKU: 204-SP-COG-22-ST
For anyone who has driven over an Alpine pass with the windows down, cognac is not just a colour. It’s the upholstery of a sixties GT, the worn steering wheel on the left side, the driver’s jacket hanging in the paddock hallway. This strap doesn’t reference that aesthetic — it knows it.
Italian calfskin is selected in our Milanese workshop for texture and character, then cut, perforated, and hand-stitched with reinforced thread. The racing perforations are not decoration: they arose from a real necessity, that of a strap that would breathe during races. They still work today, with the same logic as always.
Cognac changes over time. The shades deepen, the worn areas acquire a patina. Each strap shows slight variations in tone that make it unique — not a defect, but the signature of living leather.

It softens to your wrist.
It starts firm and, week after week, takes the shape of your wrist. The surface grows warmer to the touch, the colour gains depth where the light hits it. No plastic on top: leather that ages honestly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do racing perforations weaken the strap structure over time?
No. Perforations are executed after selecting the most compact section of leather, avoiding open-grain areas. The Italian calf leather used for the Rally Cognac has a thickness of 2.9mm — sufficient to maintain structural integrity even around the perforations. It is the same principle that worked on racing straps from the 1960s.
How does patina develop on cognac compared to other colors?
Cognac is one of the tones that reacts best to daily wear: creasing areas darken slightly, creating a warm contrast that enhances the perforations. Unlike black, which tends to flatten, cognac gains depth over time. It is not aging — it is character that accumulates.
Is this strap suitable for sports watches or better suited to dress watches?
The Rally Cognac works well on both fronts, but performs best on watches with a sportive or vintage reading: 1970s chronographs, pilot watches, steel-cased GMTs. On a formal dress watch the contrast can be deliberately bold — a choice, not a mistake.
Is the 20mm × 16mm size compatible with standard tapered straps?
Yes. The lug width is 20mm, the buckle width is 16mm — standard taper compatible with 16mm buckles from any manufacturer. If you prefer to keep your watch’s original buckle, verify that it accepts 16mm lugs.
