Handmade in Italy Selected leathers

When you receive it, the strap has already passed through centuries of tanning tradition. Horse shoulder leather is a rare raw material — not because it's difficult to work with, but because few people still know how to do it. This tanning takes place in Tuscany, in one of the region's historical tanneries, following methods that cannot be improvised.

The result is a surface with a visibly antique character: slight irregularities, warm tones that layer, an immediate softness on the wrist that more common leathers only achieve after months. Each piece is different from the other — the color varies slightly from piece to piece, because each hide carries its own history. This is what makes every strap a singular, unrepeatable object.

Limited edition. Available while raw material lasts.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have a watch with 20mm lugs — will this strap actually fit?

Yes, we have the 20mm x 16mm version. But before ordering, verify your actual lug width: it’s not uncommon for declared and real measurements to differ by half a millimeter. If in doubt, measure with calipers. The strap arrives with spring bars included, so installation is straightforward.

I’m a bit worried that each piece is different from the last. How do I know what I receive is what I expect?

That’s the right question. Because every shoulder leather has its own story, color variations aren’t a defect — they’re the strap’s signature. If you order this, you’re ordering character, not uniformity. We can’t guarantee two identical specimens, but that’s what makes it singular. If absolute color consistency matters to you, say so beforehand.

How long before this leather ‘ages’ well and loses that too-new look?

It’s the opposite here: the leather arrives already aged. It’s not raw leather that needs to do its work over time. The Tuscan tanning on horse shoulder already produces that stratification of tones and softness that other leathers reach after months of wear. You’ll understand the strap immediately, not after a year.

I’m curious: why is horse shoulder so rare if it’s not difficult to work with?

Simply: few still know how. It’s not a matter of technical difficulty; it’s that knowledge of how to tan this leather — especially with traditional Tuscan methods — isn’t widespread. Historic tanneries that do it well can be counted on one hand. That’s why availability depends on available raw material, and this is a limited edition.

If I buy this now and in a few months want to change watches with different lugs, can I adapt it?

The quick-change spring bars included can be transferred to other straps, but the strap’s lugs themselves stay that size. If you’re thinking of using it on an 18mm one day and 20mm another, get the intermediate version or have two pieces. Better decide first on the main watch you’ll mount it on.
