Nappa is more resistant than its softness suggests. With a thickness of 2.9mm it maintains good structure on the wrist and withstands regular use without deforming. Keep it away from prolonged water exposure and occasionally treat it with a neutral conditioner for smooth leather.
Red on quality Italian nappa leather has good color retention, but like any intense tint it can undergo slight variations with prolonged direct sunlight exposure. Normal use — even daily — does not compromise the color significantly in the short to medium term.
In the 18mm × 16mm size it adapts to compact cases between 34 and 38mm in diameter — watches for women or men with contained proportions. Red works particularly well on white, silver or black dials, where chromatic contrast makes sense without appearing forced.
Nappa is tanned in a way that enhances softness and immediate flexibility: it requires no break-in and adapts to the wrist from the first use. box-calf, by contrast, has a more rigid structure and a surface with a slight glossy effect that tends to develop over time with use. These are two different characteristics — nappa is immediate, box-calf builds its personality slowly.
