Handmade in Italy Recycled polyester

Twenty-seven centimeters of 100% recycled polyester. It's not a compromise - it's a precise choice, made even before wearing it.

Military nylon has its own aesthetic: flat, durable, able to withstand any conditions. This black strap with orange edges brings that character without compromising on the origin of the materials. The yarn comes from regenerated polyester, processed in Italy with the same care reserved for leather models. The result is a strap with a point of view - chromatically bold, structurally solid.

The orange edges are not decorative in the trivial sense of the word: they mark the profile of the strap with a sharp contrast, military in rhythm, civilian in daily use. 316L stainless steel buckle and loops complete the structure without adding unnecessary weight.

WHAT WE DID

Milano Straps, always sensitive to the issue of sustainability and the ways in which a luxury product should be produced and distributed, has decided, in its small way, to contribute to the growth of an Eco-Luxury Positive economy.

Recently launched, the MSLabStraps line is a new series of eco-friendly NATO fabric straps made by recycling post-consumer plastic bottles collected in Northern Italy.

From one recycled plastic bottle, two MSLabStraps NATO straps are made.

Through a mechanical, non-chemical recycling process that is 100% Made in Italy certified throughout its fully traceable supply chain, the plastic from the bottles is shredded and transformed into high-quality, high-performance recycled polyester yarns for textile use.

The production of 1 kg of Newlife®, for the same quantity of virgin polymer, allows a reduction in energy consumption of 60%, CO2 emissions of 32%, and water consumption of 94%.

Domande Frequenti

But if it’s recycled nylon, how long does it really last? I mean, after a year how much of it is still intact?

Military nylon has a well-established history of durability — it was chosen for uniforms and equipment precisely to endure extreme conditions. Here we use 100% recycled polyester, crafted in Italy with the same care as our leather models. The 1.5 mm thickness and the 316L stainless steel (buckle and keepers) are sized to withstand daily use without premature degradation. It is not a compromise choice: it is structurally sound. If you treat it for what it is — a robust strap, not a delicate one — it holds up.

These orange edges: do they fade in the sun or are they actually integrated into the yarn?

The orange edges are part of the strap’s construction, not a print or a surface coating. They are woven into the yarn itself. As for colour stability over time, recycled polyester retains its colour under normal daily use — what happens anyway to any textile fibre exposed to wear. It is not an aspect on which we have certified data to provide, but it is part of the nature of the material.

How short is this strap, really? I have a large wrist and I don’t want to discover I can’t close it.

The total length is 27 centimetres. That is not a vague figure — it is what you have. How it fits depends on how wide your wrist is and how many holes in the buckle you need for a comfortable closure. If you normally use long straps, I recommend you verify this with the seller before purchasing. It is military, not oversize: it was built to be efficient, not generous.

The lug width says 20–22 mm. Does that mean the strap fits different watches, or is the range a manufacturing tolerance?

The lug width is 20 mm (that is the measurement). If you see 20–22 listed as a range, it is because the strap can work on watches that have slightly wider lug openings, but its construction standard is 20 mm. If your watch has significantly wider lugs, this is not the strap for you. Check first.

Does Made in Italy mean the whole process or only the final assembly?

It means that the strap’s production — from the yarn to the buckle, from construction to finishing — is carried out in Italy. It is not a vague claim. It has been our standard since 1984: what goes into the box was built here, with the same attention we devote to our leather models.
