Three millimeters thinner than leather. A choice, not a compromise.

Recycled military nylon has a logic of its own: made from 100% regenerated polyester, it goes through Italian laboratories and arrives on your wrist with the same strength as a material designed to last. The red stitching on a grey base doesn't try to please everyone — it defines a precise, recognizable character, far from anonymity.

Its universal width of 20 to 22mm makes it compatible with most everyday references. The 316L steel buckle and rings do not rust, do not give way, do not stand out — they simply do their job.

For those who choose consciously. Not to follow a trend, but because recycled material, when well crafted, makes no excuses to anyone.

WHAT WE DID

Milano Straps, always sensitive to the issue of sustainability and the ways in which a luxury product should be produced and distributed, has decided, in its small way, to contribute to the growth of an Eco-Luxury Positive economy.

Recently launched, the MSLabStraps line is a new series of eco-friendly NATO fabric straps made by recycling post-consumer plastic bottles collected in Northern Italy.

From one recycled plastic bottle, two MSLabStraps NATO straps are made.

Through a mechanical, non-chemical recycling process that is 100% Made in Italy certified throughout its fully traceable supply chain, the plastic from the bottles is shredded and transformed into high-quality, high-performance recycled polyester yarns for textile use.

The production of 1 kg of Newlife®, for the same quantity of virgin polymer, allows a reduction in energy consumption of 60%, CO2 emissions of 32%, and water consumption of 94%.

Domande Frequenti

Does it really hold up like a leather strap if it’s thinner than 1.5mm?

The reduced thickness is not a cost-cutting measure—it is a design choice. The 100% recycled polyester employed here possesses a different density than leather: three millimetres less in thickness, identical structural resistance. This is not a matter of taking our word for it. Military-grade nylon originates from precise technical specifications, passes through Italian laboratories, and arrives at the wrist with the solidity of a material built to endure. Anyone who understands what ‘building for use’ truly means will grasp it immediately.

What is the real cost to me if I wear it for years?

We do not have pricing in the data, but the question deserves to be considered together: a recycled military strap from Milano Straps is not a choice of economic compromise—it is a choice of awareness. 316L stainless steel hardware that will not rust, regenerated polyester worked right here in Italy, a design that ages well because it does not chase trends. If you keep it for years—and these straps are made to remain on your wrist for years—the value proposition shifts entirely compared with an anonymous strap.

Those red stitches on grey—are they truly that recognisable, or is it merely marketing?

They are not trying to please everyone, and that is precisely the point. This is the opposite of generic marketing. Place an anonymous grey strap with any buckle on the wrist and no one notices. These—red stitching on a grey base—mark a precise character. Your wrist becomes recognisable, your taste legible. It is not a trend, it is a signature. If something does not interest you deeply, you do not choose it.

Will it fit all my watches, or must I verify the lug width?

The lug width is 20mm with compatibility up to 22mm, which covers most daily wear. But ‘most’ is not ‘all’—if you own watches with 18mm lug widths or smaller, or larger calibres, verify beforehand. Here at Milano Straps you may ask for guidance: tell us which watches you own, and we shall know whether it suits them or not.

Why should I choose recycled material instead of genuine Horween leather?

These are two different logics, not a competition. Horween is leather, a noble material that ages with patina. This is recycled military nylon—100% regenerated polyester, well crafted, with a dignity of its own. If you believe that recycled material, when built seriously, owes apologies to no one, then it is not a question—it is a conscious choice. If you only desire the tannery name on the paperwork, look elsewhere.
