Yellow lizard evolves with use, like every natural leather. It has not been treated to remain crystallised — the colour develops a patina, but this is its nature. Every strap tells a different story: it depends on how much light it receives, how you wear it, what it touches. This is what makes wearing reptile leather interesting for years on end, not a defect of the product.
I read that the strap is water-repellent — does that mean I can shower without taking it off my wrist?
The water-repellent treatment protects the leather without altering it. It is not a waterproof barrier: water does not penetrate easily, but lizard remains living leather. Rain, a few drops, a day at the sea — no problem. A regular shower or prolonged immersion? Better to remove it. It is a strap, not armour.
The colour variations you mention in the description — how significant are they? I receive a light yellow and perhaps the next one is orange?
Each strap is cut from a single hide, so the nuances are natural and subtle. We are not talking about colour jumps — these are variations you notice when you turn it in the light, not at first glance. Yes, the width is the right one for your lug. The total length is 115mm on the buckle side and 75mm on the spring side — it is the classic standard, suited to most wrists. If you have a particularly large or particularly small wrist, it is better to let us know before ordering: we can verify whether it is the right fit for you.
The grain of the lizard — is it rough to the touch? How does it feel on the wrist?
Lizard has a natural texture, the scales create a relief. It is not smooth like a calf, but it is not rough in the unpleasant sense — it is matter. What you see under the microscope (each scale reflecting light) you also feel to the touch: it is part of the charm. Reptile leather means precisely this: a thickness of 2.5mm and a surface that has its own voice. If you prefer something smooth, lizard is not for you.
