But won't the rubber underneath stick to my skin in summer? I mean, the wrist sweats and then everything stays clammy?
No, because the rubber here is not a compact sheet. The grooves you see on the inner band are not decorative: they are ventilation channels. Air circulates, sweat evaporates. It is thick (precisely so it absorbs impacts and does not yield), but it breathes. It is not like a dive watch with a sealed band.
Can I change the strap without tools? Because I have other straps and I hate waiting for the watchmaker.
Yes. The quick-release with stainless steel spring works in seconds, with bare hands. Press and it releases. It is integrated into the design of the strap, not an add-on.
Does alligator scratch? If I knock it against an edge or it catches on a hinge, will it leave a mark?
Authentic alligator has a living, irregular grain — that is its nature. An edge can leave a trace, yes. But the rubber underneath absorbs precisely those impacts to protect it. It is not invincible, but it is designed for daily use, not to sit in a display case. And matte olive green, in the way it patinas, often transforms marks into character rather than damage.
Does the colour change over time? I mean, between six months and two years, how does it hold up?
It depends on how much you wear it and under what conditions. It is natural leather and natural rubber: matte olive green is not a stable colour like a synthetic paint. It will take on patina, it will shift slightly in tone. Each piece reacts differently — variations are inherent to the hide. If you are looking for something that remains identical over time, this is not for you.
Can I use it in water? Chlorine, salt water, all those things? Or is it just shower splashes?
The rubber resists UV and everyday chemical agents. Salt water and chlorine are chemicals, yes, but they are not everyday for most people. If you use it in the pool every day, I would not recommend it for years of wear. A shower, a quick rinse: no problem. For intensive use in salt water or chlorine, it is better to think it through.
