How water-resistant is this alligator strap?
Water resistance refers to daily exposure: rain, sweat, humidity. It is not designed for prolonged immersion — genuine alligatore, even with water resistant tanning, does not replace rubber or synthetic materials in underwater contexts. For regular wrist wear it is more than adequate.
Is sur-ton stitching an aesthetic choice or does it serve a function?
Both. On red, contrasting stitching would break the visual continuity of the strap. Sur-ton maintains a clean, uniform profile, allowing the alligatore texture to speak for itself. From a construction standpoint, the thread is nonetheless solid and calibrated for the section.
The strap is available in 20mm or 21mm lug width — how do I choose the right size?
It depends on the lug width of your watch. Measure the opening between the two lugs with a caliper: if it is 20mm choose 20mm, if it is 21mm choose 21mm. The closure width is 16mm in both cases, compatible with standard 16mm buckles.
