Selected leathers
The Louisiana alligator does not ask for permission. Its character is etched in its scales — each scale is unique, each span of skin tells a different position on the animal's back. The matte finish softens the contrast, returning a deep black that does not reflect light: sober, almost severe, exactly as befits the wrist of someone wearing a Patek Philippe.
The tanning is Tuscan, carried out according to traditional methods in workshops that have been processing the most demanding leathers on the market for generations. The result is a leather that feels dense and characterful to the touch — it does not give way immediately, but adapts over time to the shape of the wrist without losing structure. The stainless steel insert ensures a clean profile at the lugs, a detail that on a watch like the Nautilus is not ornamental: it is necessary.
Each specimen varies slightly from the other. Alligator skin is by definition unrepeatable — differences in texture are not flaws, they are proofs of authenticity.

Patina is the signature of time.
Alligator doesn't wear down: it matures. The first months on the wrist soften its flank, light darkens the ridges just slightly, and the colour deepens. We treat it with neutral oils, no varnish to smother the grain: what you take home isn't finished, it's only beginning.
The next step
The right strap isn’t chosen. It is built, together.
From the atelier appointment to delivery, every step is made for those who know that things done well take time. Rare leathers, one piece at a time, eighteen months of warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this strap compatible with the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 or 5726?
The strap features a 26mm lug width, which corresponds to the Nautilus lug width. The transition to 18mm at the buckle is proportioned to the original bracelet design. Before proceeding, we recommend verifying the exact measurement of your specific model, as some Patek Philippe references with integrated cases may require adapters or have particular lug geometries.
Is a 2.5mm thickness sufficient to maintain shape under the Nautilus case?
At 2.5mm this strap is deliberately thin — a technical choice consistent with the Nautilus philosophy, conceived as a sports watch yet with an elegant, restrained profile. The reduced thickness prevents the strap from pressing against the case back and ensures a flat wrist profile. The steel insert at the lugs contributes to maintaining geometry over the long term.
What is the difference between matte and polished finish on louisiana alligator?
The matte finish is achieved during tanning by reducing the surface finishing level: the scales maintain a more natural, less reflective texture. The result is a deeper, more discreet black compared to the polished version, which instead emphasises contrasts between the scale fields. For a watch like the Patek Philippe, often paired with formal attire but also less ceremonial contexts, matte black offers a versatility that polished does not always possess.
How long does the strap take to adapt to the wrist and how should it be cared for initially?
Tuscan-tanned louisiana alligator has a dense structure that requires several days of regular wear before fully conforming to the wrist curve. In the first weeks some stiffness is normal — a sign of leather not treated with artificial softeners. For maintenance, a colourless cream for exotic leathers applied sparingly every two or three months is sufficient, avoiding prolonged contact with water and direct perspiration.
