Why a curved bar is needed
On many modern sport watches the lug isn't straight: it drops at an angle toward the wrist for better wearability. A straight spring bar on this geometry forces the strap to bend at the attachment point, leaving a visible gap and wearing out leather in the first months. Curved replicates the case radius exactly: strap goes in straight, lies flat, wear distributes evenly.
Which watches need them
Tudor Pelagos (22mm), Tag Heuer Aquaracer Calibre 5 onward (20/22mm), Seiko SKX/SRP/SPB sport (22mm), Omega Planet Ocean 600m (22mm). Generally: modern sport watches with massive case and U-shaped lug instead of straight. If in doubt, look at the case back: if the lug angles down from the case, curved is needed.
Quick release on curved too
Same mechanism as Classic Quick Release: lateral lever, tool-free swap, 1.8mm Swiss Standard pin. Difference is only the curvature radius — calibrated for the 16-24mm range of common sport watches. Eight sizes available: 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24mm.

Pelagos: curved or straight spring bar?
Always curved. Pelagos 42 has lugs that drop toward wrist about 8 degrees. Straight bar forces strap to bend at attachment, leaving visible 1-2mm gap and wearing leather in first months. Curved 22mm replicates exact angle: straight strap, uniform contact, zero gap.
Aquaracer Calibre 5: which model needs curved?
All Calibre 5 from 2010 onward. Previous generation (Calibre 2-3-4) had straight lugs. Since 2010 Aquaracer design adopted U-lug case for better wearability. Lug 20mm or 22mm depending on case diameter (41 or 43mm).
Standard or custom curvature?
Catalog curved bars have fixed radius calibrated for 16-24mm range of common sport watches (Tudor Pelagos, Tag Heuer Aquaracer, Seiko Prospex, Omega Planet Ocean). For extreme curvature watches (some Hublot Big Bang, AP Royal Oak Offshore Diver), custom spring bars are needed — at Casati Milano atelier we make specific radius.
