Suede 20mm — for watches that don't fear discretion

SIZE 20MM · SUEDE

Suede on 20mm: velvety texture, requires attention to humidity

At 20mm, suede reveals its full character. The velvety texture of the inner side of the hide exposes the open fibres — I work primarily with calfskin, more robust than lambskin, because it withstands daily abrasion better. The drawback? It does not tolerate water. A sudden downpour leaves permanent marks. For this reason, I recommend it on watches that are not worn in the rain.

The pairing shifts the meaning of the watch: anthracite grey suede on a formal dress watch, tobacco on a 1960s silver dial, black on a dark suit. In the Casati atelier we choose the leather together, directly on your wrist — the strap is born on the watch, not before.

Frequently asked questions

Which 20 mm watches are compatible with a suede strap?

Patek Philippe 3970, Omega 1566.56.00, Tudor 79950. Also Wyler Vetta WV0601 and WV0600. Check the lug width on your watch before ordering — 20 mm is the space between the bows.

Why choose Suede for a 20mm watch? Which style does it pair with?

Suede at 20mm on formal dress watches is pure sophistication — anthracite grey on the Calatrava, tobacco on a silver dial. It calls for a considered style, not rain. It's not casual, it's considered.

How do you measure a 20mm lug width? How can you check before ordering?

The lug width is the gap between the strap's lugs — measure it with a digital calliper between the inner edges. 20mm is standard on 1960s and 1970s dress watches. If in doubt, come to the atelier at Via XX Settembre 15.

How much does a 20mm Suede strap cost?

From €90. The price varies for special finishes, custom length or braiding.

Can I order a made-to-measure 20mm Suede strap at the atelier?

Casati Milano receives visitors by appointment at Via XX Settembre 15, Milan. We choose the leather together — the strap takes shape on the watch, not before.
