The lug width of the Tudor Style 12313-0021 is 20 millimetres. This measurement represents the distance between the centres of the two attachment holes located on the case lugs. A compatible strap must have a lug width of exactly 20mm to ensure a fit without unwanted play or tolerances. When using a digital caliper, measure perpendicular to the dial plane, positioning the measurement tip directly at the centre of the holes.

For the 12313-0021, we recommend a black alligator strap or vegetable-tanned calf leather. Alligator respects the two-tone gold-steel case composition whilst emphasising the formal elegance of the model, whilst calf develops a unique patina over time and offers greater everyday versatility. For sports use, a FKM rubber strap with stainless steel deployante remains an excellent option without aesthetic compromise.

Strap replacement is accomplished by removing the springbars—the pins linking the strap to the case lugs. Use a dedicated spring bar tool or a watchmaker's needle, applying gentle downward pressure on one of the pins until it disengages from its housing. Once the pin is removed, slide the old strap outward. For installation of the new strap, insert the pin into one of the strap holes first, then compress the pin whilst inserting the opposite lug into its hole, ensuring the pin clicks fully into its final position.

Any strap with a 20mm lug width is compatible with the 12313-0021. This includes leather straps (alligator, calf, shell cordovan, waxed leather), rubber straps, textile straps and NATO straps. Compatibility is determined solely by lug width: as long as it measures 20mm, the strap will mount correctly. The lifespan of a leather strap depends on intensity of use, the tanning method applied and environmental conditions. A vegetable-tanned calf strap worn daily under normal circumstances has a useful life of 3-5 years before requiring replacement. Alligator, owing to the more robust fibre structure, can exceed 5-7 years. Rubber has superior longevity (8-10 years), although the material's flexibility gradually degrades. Exposure to excessive moisture, intense perspiration and UV rays accelerates wear: store the strap in a dry environment when not worn.
