Changing the strap requires a spring bar tool to remove the elastic pins (also called bayonet lugs) that connect the strap to the case. Insert the tool's tip underneath the pin until you release the internal spring, then remove the old strap. Position the new strap by aligning it with the holes and reinsert the pins until you hear the click of closure. A straightforward operation, but best performed carefully to avoid scratching the case.

A premium leather strap (alligator, calf, shell cordovan) maintains its aesthetic and functional characteristics for 3–5 years of ordinary use, developing a patina that increases its appeal.
