How do I change the strap on a Tudor Style 12100-0020?
Remove the watch from your wrist. Using a spring bar tool (with rounded ends), apply gentle vertical pressure on one of the case's lateral pins to release the internal spring tension. The strap will slide out easily. Reverse the procedure with the new strap, ensuring the pin is fully inserted into the case lugs before releasing pressure. Never use sharp implements (scissors, blades) as they will scratch the case finish.
How long does a leather strap last on this watch?
Leather strap longevity depends on material type, usage patterns, and climate conditions. A quality vegetable-tanned calf strap, worn daily, typically lasts 2–4 years before replacement. Alligator, owing to stronger fibre structure, may last 3–6 years. Rubber Tropic straps have shorter lifespan (12–24 months) in humid climates but can exceed 4 years in dry conditions. Avoid prolonged water immersion, relative humidity above 80% (without ventilation), and very dry environments (below 30%) which accelerate brittle ageing of leather.
