The Tudor Fastrider 42000CN-0017 features a lug width of 24mm. This unconventional measurement was deliberately chosen by the manufacture to accommodate more robust straps proportioned to the 42mm case, ensuring optimal weight distribution across the wrist. Always verify this dimension before purchasing any aftermarket strap by measuring the distance between the centres of the case attachment holes.

Selection depends on intended use. For formal-sportive contexts, American alligator in black or shell cordovan in medium brown represent the most refined solutions, with visible aging characteristics and guaranteed comfort. For exposure to humidity and solvents, an FKM rubber strap with fine grain offers chemical resistance and waterproofness. Vegetable-tanned calf leather provides an ideal compromise between immediate softness, aesthetic appeal and natural aging patina. Strap replacement requires a spring bar tool: position the bifurcated tip on the lateral attachment holes of the spring, apply gentle downward pressure to disengage the pin, and pull outward. The spring will slide free from the lug. Repeat on the opposite side. To install the new strap, align the lug holes with the case pins and press until you hear the spring-lock click. A delicate operation that, if performed with improper tools, risks case scratching—many prefer entrusting this task to a specialised atelier.

Theoretically, any strap fitted with a 24mm lug width is compatible. However, given the watch's build quality, we recommend producers who understand the technical constraints of this specific measurement: generous thicknesses, reinforced passants and solid stitching are non-negotiable.
