Strap replacement requires precise tools: a spring bar tool (lever-type implement) and gentleness when handling the case's micro-attachments. Position the watch on a soft surface (watchmaker's pad), locate the spring bar access holes, insert the tool to compress the internal spring, and extract the bar. Repeat on the opposite side. Install the new strap by reversing the process. A quality artisanal vegetable-tanned leather strap typically lasts between 3 and 7 years with daily use, depending on storage and tanning method. Vegetable leathers develop a natural patina and tend to darken—this is desirable. Primary wear occurs at flex points (lugs and buckle).
