The lug width of the Tissot Seastar T066.417.11.047.00 is 20mm. This measurement is standardised for the model and must be verified before purchasing an aftermarket strap. Measure the space between the two case lugs at the attachment point: it must correspond exactly to 20mm to ensure correct and stable fit.

For a 48mm brushed steel case, we recommend hand-dyed alligator or vegetable-tanned calf leather: both create contemporary elegance and develop natural patina. If usage is predominantly aquatic or informal, a high-density nylon NATO strap ensures durability and comfort even in humid environments. FKM rubber is ideal for technical diving and zero maintenance.

To change the strap, you must extract the spring bars (small metal pins that run horizontally through the case lugs). Use a dedicated tool (spring bar tool) available from specialist retailers. Insert the forked tip into the bar's extraction hole, gently lift the old strap and the bar will come free. Align the new strap holes with the lugs and reinsert the bar. The operation takes a few minutes and causes no damage to the case if performed carefully.

All straps with a 20mm lug width are compatible. They are available in leather (alligator, calf, cordovan, vegetable-tanned), NATO, rubber and steel. Always verify that the strap is declared 20mm by the manufacturer, as variations of 0.5mm can cause friction or instability. 19mm or 21mm straps will not fit correctly.

Durability depends on intensity of use and leather quality. Premium alligator, worn moderately, lasts 3–5 years before showing significant wear. Vegetable-tanned calf, less robust but more breathable, lasts 2–4 years. Constant exposure to water, perspiration and UV rays reduces lifespan by 1–2 years. To extend life, remove the watch in prolonged wet situations and periodically apply leather-specific balms.
