The Swatch Sistem51 SUTR400 features a lug width of 16 millimetres, a standard dimension proportionate to the 42-millimetre case diameter. This width represents 38% of the case diameter, respecting horological visual balance. The measurement is obtained by placing a digital calliper between the two internal lugs of the case.

For the SUTR400, we recommend a vegetable-tanned leather strap (European calf or alligator) in chocolate brown or deep blue tones, which creates equilibrium with the transparent polycarbonate case. Alternatively, NATO straps in 1000D Cordura grey or black emphasise the sportive-military heritage. For humid environments, structured butyl rubber offers superior grip whilst maintaining design elegance.

The SUTR400 utilises standard 16-millimetre spring bars. Strap replacement requires two tools: a spring bar remover or two flathead screwdrivers of fine gauge. Insert the tool into the spring bar hole, lift the bar end slightly, extract the bar from the case, remove the old strap and thread the new one following the same path in reverse.

Compatibility depends on the internal diameter of the spring bar. Most 16mm straps utilise standard bars, however we recommend verifying that the internal spring bar diameter is 1.8 millimetres (universal standard). Some premium Casati Milano straps offer personalised spring bars upon request for perfect mechanical fit and elimination of micro-play.

A quality vegetable-tanned leather strap, worn daily, typically lasts 18–36 months with ordinary maintenance (gentle cleaning, drying after water contact). Longevity varies according to climate (humid environments accelerate ageing), frequency of wear and solar exposure. The natural patina of vegetable tanning improves aesthetically over time, transforming wear into distinctive material character.
