The Seiko Prospex Divers SRPB01 requires a strap with a lug width of 22 millimetres. This width is standard in mid-to-high-end diving watches and can be easily verified by measuring the internal space between the two case lugs. All artisanal 22mm straps are compatible with this model.

For the Prospex SRPB01 we recommend a vegetable-tanned calf strap with a thickness of 1.5-1.8mm, or natural alligator. Both styles create an elegant contrast against the robustness of the case whilst maintaining a technical profile. For more intensive or aquatic use, a vulcanised rubber or canvas ballistic NATO are functionally equivalent choices.

Strap replacement requires a spring bar tool or dedicated tool to free the lugs. Position the watch on a soft base, access the side lugs and push the bar inward to remove it completely. Insert the new strap, aligning the holes with the lugs, and reinsert the bar in the opposite direction. The process takes approximately two minutes and requires no professional expertise.

No, replacing the strap with an aftermarket version does not compromise the Seiko warranty, as the strap is a consumable component. However, we recommend keeping the original strap. In the event of technical service, Seiko may require the watch to be returned with the original strap or may charge a replacement fee.

An artisanal vegetable-tanned calf strap typically lasts 3-5 years under daily wear conditions, depending on factors such as sun exposure, humidity and frequency of wear. Vegetable tanning develops a natural patina that increases the strap's aesthetic character over time. Proper maintenance, drying after water contact and periodic treatment with natural oils significantly extend durability.
