The Type 3 Type 3N, seen from the bench

The Ressence Type 3 Night Blue is a Belgian timepiece with a 44.00 mm titanium grade 5 case and 22 mm lug width. It features the proprietary Ressence ROCS3.3 caliber and the patented ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System) with three orbital discs suspended in special fluid, eliminating reflections and parallax. The sealed case contains no crown or pushers, with inert liquid protecting the movement from oxidation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the lug width of the Ressence Type 3N?

The Ressence Type 3N features a lug width of 22 mm, which is the internal distance between the two horizontal lugs of the titanium case. This specific dimension is determined by the case geometry and dictates which aftermarket strap is compatible. When selecting an aftermarket strap, it is essential to verify that the width is exactly 22 mm to ensure a perfect fit to the lugs.

Which strap is most suitable for the Ressence Type 3N?

The best strap for the Type 3N depends on intended use. Genuine alligator in neutral tones (black, dark brown, navy blue) offers elegant aesthetic contrast and magnificent natural ageing. For quality alternatives, shell cordovan provides deep patina development over time, whilst vegetable-tanned calf guarantees durability and breathability. For sporty contexts, a canvas NATO or vulcanised rubber maintains practicality without aesthetic-functional compromise.

How do I change the strap on a Ressence Type 3N?

The Ressence Type 3N uses standard lugs without a particular spring bar mechanism. To change the strap: gently remove the current strap from the side lugs of the case (do not apply excessive force to avoid scratching the titanium); insert the new 22 mm strap into the lugs, ensuring the strap body does not exceed 3.5 mm thickness to guarantee optimal ergonomic comfort; verify that the strap is symmetrical on both sides before wearing the watch.

Is an aftermarket strap compatible with the Ressence Type 3N?

Yes, any strap with a 22 mm lug width is compatible with the Type 3N. Compatibility depends solely on width: if the strap is designed for 22 mm, it will fit perfectly into the lugs. It is advisable to select artisanal straps of superior quality that guarantee controlled thicknesses (max 3.5 mm) and refined finishes, so that the strap honours the premium construction of the titanium case.

How long does a leather strap last on the Ressence Type 3N?

The lifespan of a leather strap depends on material quality and frequency of use. A high-quality alligator or shell cordovan typically lasts 4–6 years with daily wear, owing to their intrinsic resistance to scratching and flexing. A vegetable-tanned calf guarantees 3–5 years of regular wear. Factors such as humidity, direct sun exposure and perspiration influence longevity. Periodic maintenance (conditioning with specific creams) significantly extends the useful life of any strap.
