No. The bracelet is integrated into the case: there is no standard lug to attach an off-the-shelf strap. The attachment is part of the case structure itself. That is why I only work bespoke, with the watch physically in front of me at the atelier.

Everything goes through <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, by appointment at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, study the exact geometry of the attachments, and build the strap directly on the case. I do not work from photographs or measurements sent by email: the precision required here leaves no room for approximation.

For a Nautilus like this one — born sporty but often worn in elegant settings — I prefer a matte alligator in a neutral tone, smoke grey or slate blue. It holds the technical character of the case without undermining the refinement of the Patek signature. I have seen too many poor pairings on this watch: polished leather tends to compete with the steel, while matte accompanies it.

With regular use and some care, five years is a starting point, not a finish line. Quality leather ages with the watch: it changes colour, settles on the wrist, tells the time that has passed. The one real rule is to keep it away from prolonged contact with water and let it breathe and dry naturally after perspiration.

Gérald Genta reportedly drew this watch in a single night. True or not, the design has remained intact for nearly fifty years — and this 33.6 mm variant carries that character forward in a more compact proportion. I have seen Nautilus pieces from the Seventies still wearing perfectly: that is the measure of a design built to last, not to impress at first glance.
