No. The bracelet is integrated into the case: there is no standard lug to attach an off-the-shelf strap. The attachment is proprietary, designed to flow seamlessly with the white gold case geometry. The only way to change the strap on this model is to have one built to measure, directly on the watch.

I work on this model exclusively through <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, my appointment-only atelier at Via XX Settembre 15, Milan. I study the attachment geometry at the bench and build every component by hand, fitting it millimetre by millimetre to the original case. Working from photographs is not an option: the watch must be present.

For this white gold model, my choice is natural Barenia. Its compact structure suits the sporting character of the Nautilus, and over time it develops a patina that speaks of wear without losing elegance. It is a leather that grows with the person wearing it, and on a watch like this it works better than anything overly polished or formal.

With minimal care — drying it after contact with water, avoiding repeated folds at the same point — a well-made Barenia or Alligator strap easily lasts five to seven years. The leather does not deteriorate: it changes. It develops its own patina and moulds to the wrist. What I often see is that people end up preferring the aged strap to the new one.

Gérald Genta drew it in 1976 as a statement that a sports watch need not be plain or forgettable. The porthole case, the horizontal guillochage, the integrated bracelet: everything was designed to look right at a dinner table, not only on a boat. A leather strap on this Nautilus does not betray the philosophy — it interprets it differently, more personally. I have seen it worn that way with results that would have convinced Genta himself.
