Strap for Nautilus 5980 White Gold / Black
Integrated bracelet: measurements, the most common questions, and the way to a made-to-measure strap.
Integrated bracelet
The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5980/60G-001 is designed with a bracelet integrated into the case. For a compatible made-to-measure strap, the Casati Milano atelier builds it on your watch.

Frequently asked questions
Can a standard strap be fitted to the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5980/60G-001?
No. The bracelet is integrated into the case with a proprietary system: there is no standard lug to attach an off-the-shelf strap. This is a deliberate design decision, not a limitation. At the atelier I build the attachment bespoke, directly on the watch.
How does the bespoke strap service work for this Nautilus?
I work by appointment only at Casati Milano, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. Bring the watch with you: I take the measurements from the case itself, not from a template. Every attachment is shaped by hand to follow the original geometry of the case, curve by curve.
Which leather would I recommend for this model?
For a Nautilus in white gold with a chronograph, my choice is Mississippi alligator in pearl grey. The scale structure is tight and compact, it holds up well with active wear, and it sits naturally alongside the cool tone of white gold. It is not a leather that shouts: it accompanies, and on this watch that is precisely what is needed.
How long does a well-made strap last on a watch of this calibre?
A strap built with first-grade leather and hand-stitched will easily last seven or eight years of daily wear — sometimes longer. Quality leather does not deteriorate: it ages, it develops character, it moulds to the wrist. The only care it asks for is to keep it away from prolonged exposure to water and, occasionally, a light application of a neutral conditioner.
What sets the Nautilus 5980/60G-001 apart from other Nautilus references?
It carries an integrated chronograph — a complication that is far from straightforward on a case with this geometry. And the white gold version adds a visual coolness that sets it apart from the warmer aesthetic of steel or yellow gold models. I have seen many Nautilus watches over the years: this one has a sharper, less immediate character. You need to look at it quietly for a while before you fully understand it.
