Integrated bracelet: measurements, the most common questions, and the way to a made-to-measure strap.
Integrated bracelet
The Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5968A-001 is designed with a bracelet integrated into the case. For a compatible made-to-measure strap, the Casati Milano atelier builds it on your watch.

Frequently asked questions
Can a standard strap be fitted to the Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5968A-001?
No. The bracelet is integrated into the case with a proprietary attachment: a standard strap simply cannot be fitted. There is no conventional lug width to work from. The only viable option is to build a bespoke attachment directly on the watch.
How does the bespoke strap service work for this model?
I work through Casati Milano, by appointment only, at the atelier in Via XX Settembre 15, Milan. I take measurements directly from the case at the workbench, with no guesswork. Every attachment is hand-shaped to work with the fluid architecture of the original case.
Which leather do you recommend for the Aquanaut 5968A-001?
I lean towards aged Barenia in warm tones, or a petrol-blue Swift. This watch has a sporting soul but carries diamonds on the bezel — it needs a leather with character, not one that shouts. Barenia develops a patina over time that sits well against steel that ages gracefully.
How long does a well-made leather strap last?
With quality leather and basic care, I count on five, sometimes seven years of regular wear. Keep it away from water and let it breathe — alternating straps helps. Well-tanned leather does not deteriorate: it transforms, and often improves.
Was the Aquanaut truly designed as a tool watch, or was it always meant for display?
When Patek presented it in 1997, the intention was clear: a contemporary sports watch, far from the classicism of the Nautilus. In the 5968A-001, an integrated chronograph and a diamond-set bezel coexist — a tension I find honest, not contradictory. This is a watch to be worn, not exhibited.
