The Aquanaut 5067A-024, seen from the bench

The Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5067A-024 features a 35.6mm stainless steel case with a tropical green dial and composite rubber strap. Presented in 1997 as a contemporary interpretation of the legendary Nautilus, this model exemplifies luxury sports watchmaking. The integrated composite attachment requires custom craftsmanship to ensure fluid integration with the original case.

Frequently asked questions

Can a standard strap be fitted to the Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5067A-024?

No. The Aquanaut's bracelet is integrated directly into the case: there are no standard lugs to attach a traditional strap. The attachment is a proprietary Patek Philippe system, designed for that composite bracelet and nothing else. In the atelier, I build the strap to measure, working from the actual geometry of the case.

How does the bespoke strap service work for this model?

I work exclusively by appointment at Casati Milano, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. Bring the watch: I take measurements directly from the case, without relying on charts or standard templates. Every element of the attachment is shaped by hand to follow the original curve of the case. This model cannot be worked on remotely.

Which leather do I recommend for the Aquanaut with the tropical green dial?

I prefer Mississippi Alligator in forest green, taken from our private reserve. The tone speaks directly to the dial without mimicking it: a choice that respects the Aquanaut's sporting character while making it more personal. Those who prefer a visible ageing process might consider Tuscan honey leather: it develops a warm patina that tells the story of years of wear.

How long does a well-made artisan strap last?

With basic care — keeping it away from prolonged water exposure, drying it if it gets wet, applying a little neutral cream every few months — a quality leather strap lasts easily five to seven years. Alligator tends to hold its shape well and soften very little over time. Tuscan leather ages differently: it softens, takes on the tone of the wearer's skin, becomes recognisable. That is not deterioration — it is character.

Is the Aquanaut truly different from the Nautilus, or is it merely an aesthetic question?

I have seen both on the bench many times. The Nautilus was born in 1976 as a formal provocation: those octagons, that case, were a clear break from convention. The Aquanaut arrived in 1997 with a different logic — it wants to be freer, less formal, suited to someone who wears a watch without ceremony. The 35.6mm case of the 5067A-024 is designed for everyday wear, not display. They are two distinct characters: one does not replace the other.
