Strap for Artelier Skeleton 40.5 Diamonds

The lug width of this model is 21mm, measured from the inside of one lug to the inside of the other (excluding the central bridge). This width is specific to maintaining correct proportions between the 40mm case and the strap extension to the wrist. A strap of different width (20mm or 22mm) will not fit correctly into the case lugs.

For the Artelier we recommend alligator leather of premium quality with structured grain and deep patina, which amplifies the sophistication of the case. Alternatively, calf leather with vegetable tanning offers tactility and patina development over time. For those preferring versatility, a NATO in heavyweight fabric or an FKM rubber strap ensures daily functionality whilst maintaining visual balance with the skeleton movement.

Use a spring bar tool to remove the lugs from the case. Insert the tip into the internal hole of the spring, apply gentle pressure to release the tension spring, then extract the bar. Repeat for the other lug. For the new strap, align the hole with the case lug and insert the spring bar until you feel a click lock. The procedure takes approximately two minutes per strap.

Yes, any strap with 21mm lug width is compatible, regardless of the brand of origin. However, we recommend verifying the strap thickness (approximately 3-4mm for leather straps) to ensure the strap enters the lugs smoothly without friction. Significantly thicker straps may suffer damage over time.

A quality leather strap (alligator or vegetable-tanned calf) typically lasts 3-5 years with daily wear, provided it is protected from excessive moisture and the leather breathes when not worn. Development of patina (natural colouration) is normal and desired. The buckle or deployant may require servicing before full strap replacement. A NATO or rubber strap has longer durability (5-8 years) due to material resistance.
