The official lug width is 21 mm. This measurement is taken between the inner abutments of the lugs, where the strap is seated. Do not confuse with approximate nominals: a certified 21 mm strap ensures a fit without lateral play on the Oris case.

A naturally tanned alligator strap with vegetable tanning is the primary choice for institutional occasions. Natural ageing increases aesthetic value over time. If you prefer daily robustness, vegetable-tanned calf offers pronounced grain and readable patina. For extreme security, shell cordovan creates luminosity contrast against the satin-finished steel case.

Remove the old strap using a Spring Bar Tool inserted perpendicularly beneath the pin. Press gently inward to release the retaining spring. Insert the new 21 mm strap by aligning the pins into the case holes. Do not force: the strap must slide without excessive resistance.

Not recommended. Nominal 20 mm straps will have lateral play on 21 mm lugs, creating unwanted movement during wear and accelerated wear risk. Choose exclusively certified 21 mm straps for guaranteed compatibility and security.

A quality artisanal calf strap lasts 3-5 years with regular maintenance (cleaning with damp cloth, conditioning semi-annually). Longevity depends on sun exposure, ambient humidity and intensity of use. Shell cordovan, being denser, reaches 7-10 years. FKM rubber straps have a lifespan of 5-8 years before losing elasticity.
