This dimension is measured by calculating the internal distance between the two pins protruding from the case, and represents an absolute specification to guarantee strap compatibility. No adaptation is tolerated: a 20mm strap will not fit, nor will a 22mm strap, which would result in excessive play.

The choice depends on intended use. For formal and everyday wear, we recommend a vegetable-tanned alligator in cognac or a black Hermès calf leather, which enhance the elegance of the case. For intensive underwater use or salt-exposed environments, a structured FKM rubber preserves the mechanical integrity of the lugs. The strap is replaced by locating the pins (spring bars) that anchor it to the case. Using a dedicated tool (spring bar remover) or a small screwdriver, gently compress one of the pins whilst simultaneously lifting the strap. Once the first pin is extracted, the strap detaches easily. For installation, proceed in reverse: position the pin in the case seat, align the lug, and firmly press the pin until locked. The operation requires care to avoid scratching the case.

Superior-quality alligator, with artisanal finishes, can reach 5-6 years. Constant exposure to saltwater, chlorine and humidity reduces this lifespan to 18-24 months. In such cases, we recommend the alternative of FKM rubber, whose lifespan is estimated at 5-7 years even in critical conditions.
