This width is specific to the contemporary generation of the Planet Ocean with a 45.50mm case and is calibrated to maintain harmonious proportions between the case volume and the strap. The measurement is taken by positioning a digital caliper between the two lugs located on the case shoulders, perpendicular to the dial.

It depends on the intended use. For formal elegance: brown alligator or shell cordovan. For technical daily wear: Tuscan vegetable-tanned leather or rubber. For versatility: NATO or vulcanized rubber strap. We recommend a minimum thickness of 4mm to ensure stability on such a voluminous case and optimal contact surface during diving.

The procedure requires a spring bar tool (a specific tool for pin removal). Position the watch on a padded support, locate the two lateral pins at the level of the lugs, press the spring bar tool against the pin and extract it in the correct direction. For reassembly, insert the new strap and reinsert the pins until they lock. It is advisable to perform the operation on a non-reflective surface to avoid losing the pins.

All straps with a 22mm lug width are compatible, regardless of material (leather, rubber, fabric). We recommend leathers with a thickness of 3.5–4.5mm to avoid uneven pressure on the case. Always verify the quality of the deployant clasp, which should present the same construction level as the case to maintain aesthetic coherence.

Durability depends on the tanning method and use. A high-quality vegetable-tanned strap, with regular maintenance (cleaning with a soft damp cloth, no prolonged water immersion), lasts 3–5 years in daily use. Shell cordovan, being denser, resists 5–7 years. A technical rubber strap resists 4–6 years before hardening.
