Strap for Ludwig Neomatik 39

The lug width of the Nomos Glashütte Ludwig 250 is 19 mm. This measurement allows you to pair your timepiece with a vast selection of specialised straps. To verify it, position a digital calliper between the inner lugs of the case at the base where the spring bar is seated.

For the Ludwig 250, we recommend a strap in alligator leather with vegetable tanning (dark brown or cognac), as the natural grain texture dialogues with the austere aesthetic of Bauhaus design. Alternatively, vegetable-tanned calf leather offers softness and authenticity, or a cotton NATO strap for more sportive and versatile solutions.

To change the strap, acquire a spring bar tool (instrument with two rounded tips). Position the 250 horizontally on a soft cloth. Gently insert one tip of the spring bar tool into the micro-hole beneath the lug (on the opposite side from where you are working), lifting the spring bar. Pull the old strap towards you. Insert the new strap, align the spring bar to the holes, and release gently.

Any strap with a 19 mm lug width is compatible. We recommend straps from specialised suppliers that respect German precision standards: in alligator, calf leather, shell cordovan with vegetable tanning, or NATO in ballistic canvas. Avoid economical straps with rough finishing, which may scratch the satin-finished steel lugs.

A vegetable-tanned leather strap typically lasts 5–7 years with regular daily use, provided adequate maintenance. Protect the leather from excessive moisture and direct UV rays. If subjected to periodic care (mink oil every 12 months), the leather evolves into a character-rich patina rather than deteriorating.
