Frequently asked questions
What is the lug width of the Nomos Glashütte Club 719?
The Nomos Glashütte Club 719 features an 18-millimetre lug width. This specification is characteristic of classic German watchmaking and reflects the elegant proportions of the 36mm case. To verify compatibility with an aftermarket strap, measure the inside of the lug from wall to wall at its widest point.
Which strap pairs best with the Nomos Glashütte Club 719?
We recommend straps in alligator or vegetable-tanned calf leather, which enhance the minimalist white dial aesthetic. Black alligator emphasises formality, whilst cognac calf introduces warmth while maintaining restraint. For those preferring a sporty character, an FKM rubber strap or grey-beige NATO complement the technical appearance of the visible movement.
How do you change the strap on a Nomos watch?
Use a precision tool (spring bar tool) to gently lift the spring bars securing the strap to the lugs. There is no need to disassemble the case. Position the tool's tip in the small lateral slot of the spring bar, apply gentle upward pressure, and the strap releases. Repeat on the other side. Fitting the new strap is the reverse procedure.
Is an 18mm aftermarket strap compatible with the Club 719?
Yes, entirely. Any strap with an 18mm lug width is compatible with the 719. Atelier Casati Milano manufactures bespoke straps by appointment; Milanostraps online straps are pre-measured and ready to use. We always recommend verifying the actual lug width by measuring the inside of the lug.
How long does a leather strap last on a daily-wear watch?
A quality leather strap, whether vegetable-tanned or alligator, typically lasts 3–5 years with daily use, varying according to environmental humidity, perspiration, and cleaning frequency. Leather patinas naturally, developing character over time. Proper maintenance—periodic cleaning and nourishment with specialist balms—significantly extends strap lifespan. Rubber or NATO straps provide superior durability, lasting 7–10 years or longer.
