The lug width of the Longines Heritage L2.704.4.16.3 is 22mm. This dimension is determined by the geometry of the case and the soldered lugs. To verify the lug width correctly, use a mechanical calliper positioned from the inner shoulder of one lug to the other, measuring orthogonally over the dial.

The ideal strap depends on intended use. For formal elegance and aesthetic longevity, we recommend alligator with traditional vegetable tanning or superior Italian calf. For daily reliability and maintenance practicality, vintage-finish calf represents the optimal compromise. Shell cordovan is excellent for humid climates owing to its natural water resistance.

The strap is replaced by removing the spring bars that connect the lugs to the case. Use a dedicated spring bar tool: insert the blade into the lateral access hole of the lug, gently lift the bar until it is partially disengaged, then remove the old strap and insert the new one. Verify that the spring bar is fully seated before wearing the watch.
