Frequently asked questions
What is the lug width of the Laco Pilot Watches 862103?
The Laco 862103 features a 20mm lug width. This measurement is taken from the inner metal bridge between the two lugs (case attachments) and is proportioned to the 42mm case diameter, ensuring visual harmony and comfortable wrist wear.
Which strap is best suited for the Laco 862103?
For the Laco 862103, we recommend a vegetable-tanned calf leather strap in cognac or natural brown for daily wear, or a cotton-nylon NATO for greater tactical versatility. Vegetable-tanned alligator offers refined aesthetic contrast. For aquatic environments, a moulded FKM rubber maintains functionality without compromise.
How do you change the strap on this watch?
Turn the Laco 862103 dial-side down. Using a spring bar tool (a small metal implement with a forked tip), insert the point under the spring bar end that secures the strap. Press gently outward: the bar will release and the strap will detach. Repeat on the other side. To install the new 20mm strap, align the holes and reinsert the spring bar until it clicks.
Are aftermarket 20mm straps compatible with the Laco 862103?
Yes, all straps with a 20mm lug width are compatible. Lug width standardisation ensures that any aftermarket strap (leather, NATO, rubber, etc.) fits the 862103 lugs perfectly, provided it meets the 20mm width requirement and appropriate length for your wrist.
How long does a leather strap last on a watch like the Laco 862103?
A quality vegetable-tanned calf strap lasts approximately 18–36 months with daily wear, depending on moisture and perspiration exposure. Natural patina develops over time, adding character. Shell cordovan or alligator straps last longer (4–6 years) due to greater fibre density. Rotating straps extends each one's lifespan by allowing the leather to dry.
