The lug width of the IWC Pilot IW3881-10 is 20mm. This is the distance between the two lugs (axes) that connect the case to the strap. Every compatible strap must feature terminal holes spaced exactly 20mm apart, with a maximum manufacturing tolerance of 0.2mm.

For the IW3881-10 in red gold, we recommend straps in cognac or chocolate brown alligator, which amplify the warm reflections of the gold case. Alligator is the conservative choice par excellence. Alternatively, shell cordovan with natural patina or vegetable-tanned calf leather offer exceptional character. For sports configurations, dark grey silicone or rubber maintains daily functionality.

To change the strap, position the watch on a soft cushion so the case remains stable. Locate the two lateral lugs that secure the strap to the case. Using a spring bar tool (a dedicated implement with a curved tip), apply downward pressure in the small round hole positioned beside the lug, lifting it slightly. The lug will retract, allowing you to remove the old strap. Insert the new strap by aligning the terminal holes with the lugs, then release the spring bar tool. Verify that the strap is properly positioned on both sides.
