Frequently asked questions
What is the exact lug width of the IWC Da Vinci IW3752-16?
The IWC Da Vinci IW3752-16 has a lug width of 19mm. This measurement is specific to the 39mm case diameter and follows IWC's design proportions. To verify, remove the original strap and measure the distance between the two lugs: it should measure exactly 19mm.
Which strap material is best suited for a yellow gold watch?
For a yellow gold IW3752-16, African alligator is the natural choice: its pronounced grain and mature patina resonate with the nobility of precious metal. Vegetable-tanned calf is equally valid, developing uniform texture over time. Shell cordovan from horse leather offers intrinsic lustre and inherent water resistance. Avoid cool greys: yellow gold risks appearing brassy with insufficiently warm tonalities.
How do you correctly replace the strap on an IWC Da Vinci?
Extract the spring bar with a metal spring bar tool, working gently to avoid scratching the case. Position the tool under the spring and press towards the centre of the lug to release tension. Once both bars are removed, slide off the old strap. Install the new strap by aligning the lug holes with the bars: gentle pressure until the spring clicks into place. Verify complete seating at both lug ends.
Is a 19mm aftermarket strap fully compatible with the IW3752-16?
Yes, any strap with 19mm lug width is compatible with the IW3752-16. Compatibility depends solely on lug width: our bespoke straps are manufactured to this specification and field-tested on this model. Always verify that the strap's buckle end is not excessively thick, which could stress the lug attachment.
How long does a leather strap last on a daily-wear watch?
A quality handcrafted alligator or vegetable-tanned calf strap lasts 18–36 months with daily wear, depending on frequency and environmental humidity. Shell cordovan can exceed 3 years thanks to its inherent durability. Initial patina – superficial creasing in the first weeks – is normal and desirable. The Casati Milano atelier provides 18 months warranty on all straps and offers restoration services to extend useful life.
