Remove the watch from your wrist. Using a spring bar tool, insert the fork end beneath the spring bar pin from the underside of the top lug and gently push downward until tension releases and the pin ejects. Repeat for the lower lug. Align the spring bar pins with the slots on the new strap and press firmly with the spring bar tool until you hear and feel the click of secure engagement. Verify the strap is locked in place before wearing the watch.

Mechanically, any strap with a 22 mm lug width will fit. However, we recommend straps from specialised manufacturers that guarantee construction quality comparable to military-grade instrumentation. Alligator, vegetable-tanned calf, NATO in ballistic canvas, and FKM rubber are the most reliable options. Verify that strap thickness is proportionate to the 42 mm case diameter: excessively thick straps (>5 mm) may compromise comfort on slender wrists.

A quality leather strap—alligator or vegetable-tanned calf—typically lasts 3-5 years with daily wear, provided it is not subjected to prolonged submersion or constant saltwater exposure. Vegetable-tanned leather develops rich patina and deepens in colour naturally, extending its visual character. Avoid direct heat exposure (radiators, prolonged sunlight) which accelerates deterioration. If you wear the DC3026A-PC-BK primarily in water or highly humid environments, an FKM rubber strap offers superior durability exceeding 10 years.
