Frequently asked questions

Can a strap be fitted to the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept 26224BA.ZZ.D400CR.01?

Not in the traditional sense. The bracelet is integrated into the case: a standard strap has no lug to attach to. For this watch, I build every strap to measure, directly on the watch, in the atelier.

How does the bespoke strap process work for this model?

I work through Casati Milano, by appointment only, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, study the geometry of the attachments and take measurements from the actual case. I do not work from photographs or technical sheets.

Which leather do I recommend for the Royal Oak Concept?

I recommend CITES-certified Mississippi alligator, matte finish. The black ceramic has a dense, almost industrial texture — the natural grain of the alligator creates a dialogue between surfaces that genuinely makes sense. I have seen aged Barenia work well over time, but for this bold character I stay with alligator.

How long does a well-made strap last?

With ordinary care, five to eight years of regular wear. Quality leather does not deteriorate: it ages, picks up light and the memory of the wrist. I recommend keeping it away from water and letting it breathe between uses.

What sets the Royal Oak Concept apart from a classic Royal Oak?

The Concept family was born as a high-complication laboratory: the architecture is skeletonised, the movement is exposed, and the case combines ceramic with 18kt yellow gold in geometries you will not find elsewhere. It is not an evolution of the classic — it is an entirely different idea of a watch. That also changes how I build the strap: it must account for a sculptural case, not a conventional form.

The next step
