Frequently asked questions

Can a strap be fitted to the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept 26223TI.OO.D099CR01.?

The bracelet is integrated into the case: a standard strap has no way of attaching. The lugs are proprietary, designed for that specific structure and nothing else. In the atelier I build the strap directly on the watch, bespoke, without adaptors or compromises.

How does the bespoke strap service work for this model?

I work on this Royal Oak Concept exclusively through Casati Milano, by appointment only, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, take measurements directly from the case and study the geometry of the lugs. There are no templates for this model: every strap is built from scratch, on that specific piece.

Which leather do you recommend for the Royal Oak Concept in titanium?

I prefer a hand-finished matte alligator. Titanium has a quiet, technical presence, and a glossy leather breaks that balance. A matte finish keeps the strap in the background, letting the skeletonised case do the talking. For colour I lean towards slate grey or deep black: both coherent with the Concept's futuristic character.

How long does a well-made strap last?

With quality leather and basic care, I comfortably reach five to seven years of daily wear. Good leather does not break: it transforms, takes the shape of the wrist, develops a patina that tells the story of time. I recommend keeping it away from prolonged water exposure and applying a natural conditioner once a year — nothing more than that.

Why was the Royal Oak Concept created as a laboratory for experimentation?

Audemars Piguet launched the Concept family in 2002 specifically to step outside the constraints of traditional production. It is a line designed to push engineering beyond what the manufacture normally does. The visible oscillating masses, the three-dimensional case construction, the skeletonisation: these are choices that only make sense in a context where limits do not exist. I have seen very few watches with this level of coherence between form and function.
